The Marin County Board of Supervisors announced that Seagate Properties, Inc., (www.seagateprop.com) a real estate investment and operating company based in San Rafael, has been named the “Golden Spire Outstanding Business of the Year” for its leadership in business, its creation of a more sustainable and energy efficient built environment, its commitment to a healthy economy by creating jobs and fostering employment opportunities, and its dedication to being a good corporate citizen, through its involvement in community service throughout Marin County.
Seagate Properties, headquartered in downtown San Rafael, made its first purchase in Marin in 1987 with the Montecito Shopping Center, and transformed the aging facility into the vibrant Montecito Plaza, home to popular retail shopping and service businesses.
The company’s current project, the San Rafael Corporate Center, will be one of the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified office buildings in Marin County. LEED certification provides independent third-party verification that a building project is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to work.
